Job description

Clayton Services is searching for a Tax Preparer to join a thriving company in the Houston Galleria area. The Tax Preparer will support both individual tax preparation and day-to-day accounting functions in a collaborative, client-focused office environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, personable, adaptable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced small business setting.
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $25.00/hour plus bonus/commission
Benefits: Excellent benefits available after the completion of the temporary period
Tax Preparer Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and assist with individual federal and state tax returns (Form 1040)
  • Gather, organize, and review client tax documentation
  • Enter information into tax preparation software such as Drake or similar systems
  • Review returns for completeness and accuracy prior to filing
  • Follow up with clients regarding missing information and documentation
  • Prepare tax organizers, intake forms, and completed return packages
  • Assist with bookkeeping, data entry, and transaction coding
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements
