Job description

Nick Schnyder Law Firm is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper with a strong background in law firm accounting, including trust account and IOLTA management. This role is critical to ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and the integrity of client funds. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in handling high-volume financial transactions in a legal environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including verifying invoices and issuing timely vendor payments
  • Maintain and reconcile trust accounts (IOLTA) in compliance with legal and ethical requirements
  • Prepare and organize all transactions for bank and trust reconciliations
  • Monitor client trust balances and ensure proper handling of client funds and disbursements
  • Process client disbursements, post payments, and issue checks in accordance with firm procedures
  • Generate and maintain accurate financial and departmental reports
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies or accounting issues
  • Process and reconcile credit card transactions
  • Prepare and process bank deposits
  • Maintain accurate digital financial records and supporting documentation
  • Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of 2+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably within a law firm
  • Required: Experience managing trust accounts and IOLTA compliance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
