Job description

This is a remote position.

About the Firm

Our client is a well-established wealth management firm with a robust in-house tax practice, built through the acquisition of a large CPA firm and supported by its sister company. The firm is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their professional team.

This position is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a production-focused environment and enjoys managing multiple client engagements with precision and autonomy.

About the Role

The Bookkeeper plays a critical role in managing the firmโ€™s monthly client accounting engagements from start to finish. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple deadlines, and confident working within QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online at a power-user level.

This role is also a proven growth path into our Staff Accountant position for bookkeepers who want to expand into fuller-cycle accounting and, eventually, tax-adjacent work.

Key Responsibilities

โ€ข Manage a portfolio of monthly bookkeeping clients (up to 15โ€“20 at capacity over time).

โ€ข Take each client engagement from start to finish on a monthly basis.

โ€ข Perform full-cycle bookkeeping, including transaction coding, bank and credit card reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

โ€ข Prepare and finalize monthly financial statements.

โ€ข Review work and ensure accuracy of account classifications and reporting.

โ€ข Communicate with clients to gather necessary documentation and clarify transactions (initially limited client-facing responsibility, with opportunity to grow into a more client-facing role over time).

โ€ข Maintain organized and accurate financial records in compliance with firm standards and accounting best practices.

โ€ข Utilize QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online extensively as a power user.

Requirements

โ€ข 5+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably within a public accounting environment (candidates with 8โ€“10+ years are encouraged to apply).

โ€ข Strong understanding of full-cycle bookkeeping, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.

โ€ข Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online required.

โ€ข Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple client deadlines.

โ€ข Ability to step into the role with minimal training and operate independently โ€” while still receiving mentorship and support from the team.

โ€ข Located in Eastern or Central time zone.

Benefits

โ€ข Compensation: Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.

โ€ข Work arrangement: Remote or hybrid, depending on proximity to a firm office.

โ€ข Paid Time Off: Flexible/unlimited PTO.

โ€ข Retirement: 401(k) with company match.

โ€ข Health coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance.

โ€ข Professional development: CPE / professional development budget.

โ€ข Growth path: A clear track toward a Staff Accountant role for candidates who want to grow their scope.

โ€ข Culture: A collaborative, team-oriented environment that values autonomy, precision, and professional growth.
