Job description

Launch your career with hands-on experience in residential kitchen and bath design.

Innovative Interiors is a growing kitchen and bath design studio specializing in custom cabinetry, space planning, and residential remodeling. We are looking for a motivated, organized, and creative Interior Design Intern who is eager to learn the business from the ground up.

Unlike many internships where youโ€™ll spend your time filing paperwork or observing from the sidelines, this internship provides meaningful, hands-on experience working directly alongside the owner. Youโ€™ll be involved in real client projects from the initial consultation through final installation while gaining valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of a professional design studio.

Internship Details

* Position: Interior Design Intern (Unpaid)

* Location: Denver, NC (In-Person)

* Commitment: Approximately 15โ€“25 hours per week (flexible around class schedules)

* Duration: 9โ€“12 months, with a preference for a 12-month commitment.

Our ideal intern is someone looking to grow with the company over an extended period. A longer internship allows you to gain confidence, take on greater responsibility, and become an integral part of our team. During the final months of the internship, youโ€™ll also have the opportunity to help train and mentor the incoming intern while continuing to build your own leadership skills.

What Youโ€™ll Learn

Throughout your internship, youโ€™ll gain real-world experience in:

* Residential kitchen and bath design

* Space planning and cabinetry design

* Construction documentation

* Client communication and presentations

* Material and finish selections

* Vendor coordination and product sourcing

* Site measurements and job site visits

* Project management

* Installation coordination

* Business operations within a growing design firm

Responsibilities

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

* Assisting with kitchen and bathroom design projects

* Creating and revising floor plans, elevations, and design documents

* Preparing client presentations and mood boards

* Organizing project files and specifications

* Researching products, finishes, and materials

* Assisting during client meetings and showroom appointments

* Coordinating with vendors, contractors, and installers

* Visiting job sites for measurements and project documentation

* Supporting project management and administrative tasks

As your knowledge and confidence grow, so will your responsibilities.

Qualifications

Weโ€™re looking for someone who is:

* Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Interior Design or a related field

* Passionate about residential design

* Highly organized with strong attention to detail

* Self-motivated and eager to learn

* Professional with excellent communication skills

* Able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team

Preferred (Not Required)

* AutoCAD experience

* Experience with SketchUp, Revit, or 2020 Design

* Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva

* Microsoft Office experience

Why Join Innovative Interiors?

As a small design studio, youโ€™ll receive one-on-one mentorship and exposure to every aspect of the design process. Rather than being assigned a single task or department, youโ€™ll experience projects from concept through completion and gain an understanding of how a successful interior design business operates.

This internship is designed to prepare you for a career in residential design by providing meaningful responsibilities, real project experience, and opportunities to develop professionally.

Future Employment Opportunities

While this is an unpaid internship, we are committed to investing in our internsโ€™ growth and success. Should a permanent position become available, interns who demonstrate exceptional performance, professionalism, and are a strong fit with our team may be considered for future employment with Innovative Interiors LLC.

Although employment is not guaranteed upon completion of the internship, we view this internship as an opportunity to identify and develop future team members.

To Apply

Please submit:

* Resume

* Portfolio (if available)

* A brief cover letter or introduction explaining why youโ€™re interested in this internship and what you hope to gain from the experience.

We look forward to meeting passionate future designers who are excited to learn, grow, and contribute to our team.
