Job description

Tuesday, March 17, 2026 | 8am - 4pm (in 3 hours shifts)

Volunteer for a fun St. Patrick’s Day tradition! - The return of Irish Arts Center’s Annual Book Day

On or near St. Patrick’s Day each year, we rely on great volunteers to help us hand out free books by Irish and Irish-American authors across the boroughs of New York City.

Volunteer shifts can be suited to your availability and we try our best to match people to the borough of their choice. For more information and to sign up please fill out our availability survey here: https://forms.gle/EZBQzkbktkhPQvbm7

If you aren't available on Book Day itself, Tuesday, March 17, don't fret! A large part of the event prep depends on your help in making sure each book has an Irish Arts Center sticker and bookmark. Volunteering for these "stuffing" days is a fun way to get involved with the center in a relaxed environment. We’ll have flexible hours available during the weeks leading up to Book Day, so if you’re still interested in helping out, please let me know and I’ll keep you up to date on details.

If you have any questions, please email: iacbookday@gmail.com

"This is a lovely way to remind everybody that the Irish are known for their literature."

The Wall Street Journal

In a citywide celebration of Irish literature we'll be handing out 10,000 free books and want you to be part of the fun!
