What you will do:

Ferroglobe USA has an immediate opening for a Roof Bolter. The person in this role will report to the Mine Foreman. At Ferroglobe, our Electrical Engineers are responsible for providing leadership, engineering, and support in the design and maintenance of Electrical and Automation systems and controls. As an Underground Roof Bolter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and stability of our underground mining operations.


  • Roof Bolting: Safely and efficiently install roof bolts and other roof support systems in underground mining areas to prevent roof collapses and ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
  • Inspection and Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain roof bolting equipment to ensure it is in proper working order. Report any defects or malfunctions for prompt repairs.
  • Follow Safety Procedures: Adhere to all safety protocols, regulations, and procedures to minimize hazards and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with other team members, miners, and supervisors to coordinate bolting activities and ensure efficient workflow.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of roof bolting activities, including the number and type of bolts used, equipment maintenance, and any safety incidents.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergency situations and assist with rescue operations if required.
  • Training: Stay up-to-date with training and certifications related to underground mining, roof bolting, and safety procedures.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Minimize the environmental impact of roof bolting operations and participate in efforts to reduce waste and promote environmental sustainability.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that roof bolts are installed to the required specifications and standards for quality and safety.

What we seek:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current MSHA Underground Miners Certification
  • Previous experience in underground mining and roof bolting preferred.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and regulations in underground mining.
  • Knowledge of roof bolting equipment and tools.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and physically demanding underground environments.
