Job Title: Certified Welding Inspector – 3rd Shift Trainer
Job Description
This role combines hands-on welding inspection with classroom and weld cell instruction to train new welders on 3rd shift. You will support new hires by delivering structured weld training, setting up practice and test welds, and ensuring all work meets established quality and certification standards.
Responsibilities
- Train new incoming welders during 3rd shift in both weld cell and classroom-style settings.
- Lead weld classes of approximately 8–16 students, providing clear instruction and demonstrations.
- Train alongside another trainer on 3rd shift to deliver consistent and effective welding instruction.
- Set up weld practice exercises and test welds for new hires to evaluate their skills and readiness.
- Perform weld inspection activities to ensure welds meet required quality and certification standards.
- Use Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) expertise to review welds, identify defects, and provide corrective feedback.
- Maintain a safe and organized weld cell and classroom environment during training sessions.
- Document training activities and test results as needed to track trainee progress and competency.
Essential Skills
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential.
- Welding certification with strong practical welding skills.
- Proven experience in weld inspection and quality assessment.
- Experience providing welding instruction in a weld cell and/or classroom-style setting.
- Ability to train and manage groups of 8–16 welding students effectively.
- Strong communication skills to explain welding techniques, safety practices, and quality standards.
- Ability to work consistently on 3rd shift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience setting up weld practice pieces and test welds for training or qualification purposes.
- Experience in training or mentoring welders in an industrial or educational environment.
- Comfort working collaboratively with another trainer to deliver a shared training program.
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to weld inspection and evaluation.

Work Environment

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
