Job description

Drill Shaft Foundation Crew Member 
The Drill Shaft Foundation Crew Member is responsible for assisting in the installation of drill shaft foundations for signal poles, camera poles, and sign structures. Drill shaft foundation installation includes assisting in drilling for foundations, setting anchor bolts, forming foundations for concrete, pouring concrete, and finishing foundations. This position is also responsible for maintaining equipment and materials used in the installation of drill shafts.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 
  • Assist with the operation of drill shaft equipment for deep foundation construction.
  • Perform site preparation prior to installation of drill shafts.
  • Monitor depth and plumbness of drill shaft during drilling operations.
  • Form foundations and ensure anchor bolt installations are per engineer’s design.
  • Install barriers and protect exposed holes prior to pouring foundations.
  • Remove forms and finish foundations after installation.
  • Perform clean-up of site upon completion of drill shafts.
  • Ensure foundation installation equipment is cleaned, serviced, and maintained.
Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be willing to travel for work, away from reporting office, with occasional overnight travel.
  • Must have the ability to read design drawings and perform accurate measurements.
Education & Experience 
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Entry-level position, no experience required, training to be provided as needed.
  • Previous concrete and/or foundation experience is a plus.
Pre-Screen 
  • Upon offer, employees may be required to subject and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background and/or MVR check.
License & Certifications: 
  • Class A CDL required.
Physical Requirements: 
  • RARE (less than 10%): Sitting, Crawling, Color Vision, Climbing Ladders, Climbing Stairs
  • OCCASSIONAL (up to 33%): stooping, kneeling, squatting, body twisting, sense of touch, climbing on/off truck, gripping, lifting up to 60 lbs., reaching, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, balancing.
  • FREQUENT (up to 66%): standing, walking, manual dexterity, seeing distant, reading, range of motion, hearing-speech range, depth perception.
  • CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): Sense of Touch, Gripping, Seeing, Carrying, Pulling

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.
