Job description

Pipe Fitters (TPT) - Port Arthur

Total Safety is seeking Pipe Fitters (NCCER preferred) with Deluge Systems/Bolt Up/Screw Pipe experience who can provide maintenance services, installation of pipe, fittings, valves, and piping systems, repairs and inspects all boiler components along with working the towers and exchangers in industrial plants and/or industrial settings to keep them in good working order.

Essential Duties:

  • Experience in maintaining job site documentation, i.e., job time sheets, and building drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities.
  • Proficient in hand tool, power tool, and pipe fitting experience.
  • Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to forty feet, working in ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Ability to work alternative shifts or weekends and to travel upon request to meet customer installation schedule.
  • Tighten and loosen bolts on flange connections and manways as per ISO drawings and work plan.
  • Assist with installation/removal of blinds as needed for pressure testing purposes.
  • Possess skilled knowledge of pipefittings, bolts, valves, etc. as required.
  • Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications.
  • Use impact wrenches, combination wrenches, and line up pins to install valves and piping spools.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ year's boilermaker experience in the fire protection, petrochemical, or oil refinery related industry preferred.
  • Ability to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to forty pounds.
  • Valid driver's license from state of residence and valid proof of vehicle insurance, satisfactory driving record required.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background and drug/alcohol screening.
  • The ability to successfully pass plant security, drug screen (to include UA, hair follicle & breathalyzer).

Working Environment:

Industrial or shop environment. Frequently exposed to wet, humid, outside weather conditions and vibration. Works in some customer environments during later part of training. May be exposed to high pressure, chemicals, gas releases, or fire. The noise level in work environment is usually moderate.

Educational Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • NCCER in Pipefitting/Boilermaker (preferred)
  • Current TWIC
