As DAWSON’s Boiler Operator, you will ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operation of boilers, heating systems, and related mechanical equipment in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Location: Charleston, SC

Responsibilities:

  • Operate, monitor, and adjust boiler systems to maintain prescribed temperatures and pressures.

  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspections on boilers, pumps, and valves.

  • Record daily readings, maintain operational logs, and report abnormal conditions.

  • Diagnose and resolve operational issues and coordinate repairs as needed.

  • Conduct water treatment testing and chemical adjustments to ensure system efficiency and safety.

  • Adhere to applicable facility safety procedures and regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, and PWS Section C.5.G).

  • Respond to emergency situations related to heating or boiler system failures.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating commercial or industrial boiler systems.

  • Knowledge of boiler operation, water chemistry, combustion control, and safety procedures.

  • Familiarity with HVAC systems and basic mechanical/electrical troubleshooting.

  • Ability to read and interpret gauges, schematics, and operating instructions.

  • Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined or elevated spaces as needed.

  • Applicable licensure or boiler certification preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be eligible for DHS background investigation and suitability clearance.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with work authorization.

  • This position may require the operation of Company-provided vehicles.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, maintaining a valid driver’s license in good standing is a condition of employment.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, employee must comply with all Company vehicles use and safety policies, as well as all applicable traffic laws.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, the Company may review your motor vehicle record (MVR), as permitted by law, to verify eligibility to operate Company vehicles.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, you must immediately notify the Company if your driver’s license is suspended, revoked, restricted, expires, or if your driving privileges otherwise change.

  • Must be able to work within the following shift

    • 2300-0800

  • Work schedules are determined by management and may be modified at any time based on business needs, contractual obligations, and operational requirements.

Salary Range - $28.92 per hour + $5.09 HW = $34.01
