Associate Mechanical Systems Flight Test Engineer
Company:

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Associate Mechanical Systems Flight Test Engineer to support the MQ-25 program in Patuxent River, MD. The successful candidates will play a critical role in the planning, execution, and analysis of flight tests for the MQ-25 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This position requires a strong background in aerospace Mechanical Systems engineering, flight test operations, and a passion for advancing unmanned systems technology.
The selected candidate(s) will serve as the Liaison between the St. Louis, MO based mechanical systems team and the flight test team based out of Pax River, MD. They will start out with a temporary assignment in St. Louis to familiarize themselves with the team and the systems on the aircraft. Travel may be required up to 20% of the time; Domestically depending on business needs.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Flight Test Planning: Support the development & execution of detailed flight test plans, including objectives, methodologies, and safety protocols for the MQ-25 program.
  • Flight Test Execution: Participate in the execution of flight tests. Be the boots on the ground for the mechanical systems team, co-located with the flight test jet(s). Identify and troubleshoot technical issues that arise during flight testing. Reach back to the St. Louis based systems team when required to help troubleshoot test execution & system performance issues.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
  • Experience with one for more of the following mechanical systems is desired:
    • Fuels Systems
    • Hydraulics Systems
    • Environmental Systems
    • Landing Gear and Arresting Systems
    • Flight Actuation and other mechanical Systems
  • Flight Test Planning
  • Flight Test execution
