Lead Software Engineer - Secure Networks and Protocols

Company:

The Boeing Company is looking for a Lead Software Engineer - Secure Networks and Protocols to join our team in Tukwila, Washington.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the design, development, architecture and maintenance of software solutions for network stack protocol software used to securely exchange data between systems

  • Partners with stakeholders by providing consultation on the identification and review of product security requirements

  • Oversees performance analysis, testing, monitoring and software assessments of networking protocol software to assess, identify and address risks, weaknesses and vulnerabilities

  • Provides consultation on secure network and protocols throughout the end-to-end lifecycle development of software products

  • Oversees research and implementation of current and emerging networking protocols, software security trends, vulnerabilities, and technologies

  • Oversees software project management activities and software supplier management functions

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance. Interim Pre-Start and Final Post Start

  • 10+ years experience with deploying, securing, and supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating systems

  • Experience in configuration and maintenance of network switches and other networking appliances

  • 8+ years experience with network security including designing, creating, and maintaining the security systems within an organization's IT network, including the computer systems and data

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 14+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 18+ years of directly related work experience OR 22+ years of related, relevant experience

  • Master of Science or PhD (STEM)

  • 5+ years experience with Kubernetes and software containerization

  • Knowledge and use of multiple networking protocols (e.g. tcp, udp, multicast, nat, and spanning tree)

  • High availability storage system design and implementation (e.g. RAID and Cluster systems)

  • Installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Microsoft Windows Desktop and Server
