SeniorPayload Engineer

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a SeniorPayload Engineerto join ourInteriors Responsibility Center South Carolina (IRCSC) team and our 787 Program Interiors team based in North Charleston, SC.

In this role you will lead a team on the development and release of interior components. Your work will include the need to interface with teams in the following fields: project engineering, production engineering, program/product teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions. You will be able to combine the expertise and resources of the interiors organization to engineer the best interiors products within the industry.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.

  • Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods.

  • Provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Leads performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

  • Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.

  • Leads investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs and innovations to meet projected requirements.

  • Ability to communicate professionally across multiple organizations and/or throughout all levels of leadership.

  • Works under minimal direction.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)

  • 9+ years of experience with 3D modeling (Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, ENOVIA, SketchUp, Pro-E, Catia, etc.) and/or equivalent combination of additional education and relevant experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in program or project management; Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully managing complex projects.

  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace engineering, design criteria and engineering release processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the Boeing 787 or similar aircraft programs.

  • Familiarity with certification processes and regulatory requirements in the aerospace industry.

  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Aerospace engineering.

  • Demonstrates good problem-solving skills and critical thinking.

  • Working knowledge of standard business software (MS Office Suite)

  • Ability to use a variety of media to clearly convey information and ideas to a variety of audiences

  • Demonstrated interest in continuous personal learning and development

  • Ability to meet plan delivery deadlines when assigned

  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, demonstrating adaptability and resilience.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering results.
