Experienced Avionics Repair and Modification Technician - B-52 (2400)
Company:
Boeing Aerospace Operations
Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) is looking for Experienced Avionics Repair and Modification Technicians to join our B-52 team in San Antonio, TX.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Perform connector terminations including shielded wires, coaxial cables, and fiber optic wiring
  • Ability to solve problems that cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers manual
  • Ability and understanding of routing instructions and handling of harnesses.
  • Perform sealing, wrapping, bonding, tying, and closure of wire harnesses and cables in accordance with standard processes
  • Diagnose and correct malfunctions occurring in assembly processes
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specification, and retrofit requirements to perform electrical modifications and repairs
  • Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of electrical wiring
  • Perform assembly, installation, visual inspection of physical characteristics, modification of wire bundles & electrical assemblies, operational and quality checks of aircraft
  • Troubleshoot organizational and depot maintenance level malfunctions in aircraft electrical and comms/nav-systems
  • Interpret standard work instructions, charts, tables, blueprints, wire diagrams, formulas, sketches, verbal and electronic orders, job layouts, etc...
  • Use all equipment in accordance with established safety and operating procedures
  • Perform all tasks involved in the coordination, preparation, and movement of material and tools
  • Operate riding type electric powered elevating equipment to accomplish work assignments
  • Experience with Hazardous Energy and Lock Out /Tag systems applications to ensure working environment safe for access
  • Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds

This position requires the ability to pass an assessment during the training cycle
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • 9+ years of experience with maintenance of avionics and/or electronic equipment (Comm Nav, Data Links, Weapons, Radar, Electronic Warfare
  • 9+ years of experience reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, material processes, schematics and diagrams
  • 9+ years of experience with software, media and file command installation to operate newly installed systems
  • 9+ years of experience with component and wire installation to include repairing, modifying, testing and troubleshooting new, experimental, and disturbed systems
  • Ability to work variable shifts (i.e. scheduled and unscheduled overtime; weekends and holidays) to support mission requirements and workload

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience with B-52 platform modifications and maintenance
  • Experience with large A/C systems testing
  • Experience as an Electrical Repair and Modifications Technician
  • Experience with Depot Level maintenance and large avionics modification implementation
  • Experience with Flight System Operational checks
  • Operate a forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric powered elevating equipment to accomplish work assignment
