Senior Accountant - Millennium Space Systems

As Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing key accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. This position will work closely with Supply Chain, Contracts, Payroll, Program Finance, Accounts Payable, Financial Planning & Analysis, Cost Policy and Boeing Accounting Business Units (ABUs) while reporting directly to the Director of Business Operations who reports to the Chief Financial Officer. This position sits in our El Segundo, CA office.
This position's internal job title is Accountant. Our team is currently hiring for Level 4.
Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):
  • Maintain and oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP, CAS, FAR, DFAR
  • Support month-end, Quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Prepare and review monthly/quarterly/annual journal entries
  • Perform complex account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Conduct accounting research for unusual or complex transactions
  • Support the capital assets / fixed assets revamp initiative and take ownership of the new capital asset processes and procedures. Collaborate with property management to locate existing assets and minimize potential write-offs
  • Provide support for ad-hoc requests and broaden company initiatives as needed
  • Assist with and stabilize the remaining payroll responsibilities, including troubleshooting ETS data issues
  • Review account activity and balances proactively and on a regular basis to prevent last-minute corrections
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement Prepare capital assets / fixed assets, monthly, quarterly and yearly schedules for corporate reporting
  • Prepare monthly rent accruals and incoming sublease rent invoice
  • Maintain Contract Liabilities schedule and prepare monthly journal entries to liquidate the balance by revenue earned on the program
  • Analyze and reconcile Unbilled and Contract Liability ending balance by program
  • Research transactions and create reports to present to management for correction of cost reclassification, transfer, and other special projects
  • Cross train with other team members to provide support during vacations
  • Support internal and external audits and Incurred Cost Submission to DCAA
  • Process improvements to automate manual processes and facilitate quicker analysis

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience with Finance and Accounting Systems and Processes
  • Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP system experience
  • Intermediate Skills using Microsoft Excel
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US citizenship. A final U.S. clearance Post Start is required

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in aerospace and defense or other government contractors desired
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task and to manage time effectively
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • CPA License

Summary pay range: Level 4: $112,200 - $165,000
