Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be instrumental in performing specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radiopharmaceuticals, providing critical insights into organ function and disease processes to guide patient care.
Every day you will prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, operate advanced imaging equipment (e.g., gamma cameras, PET scanners), acquire high-quality images, and process data for physician interpretation. You will be expected to ensure patient safety and comfort, adhere to strict radiation safety protocols, and meticulously document all procedures and radioactive materials from receipt to disposal, contributing directly to accurate diagnosis and treatment.
To be successful in this role, you must possess a strong scientific and technical aptitude, a keen eye for detail, and an unwavering commitment to radiation safety and precise diagnostic imaging.
  • Is a role model for the Hospital's Patient Satisfaction effort, i.e. demonstrates AIDET principles when interacting with customers, subordinates and colleagues.
  • Responsible for assuring safe equipment operation before attempting any Nuclear Medicine procedures. Troubleshoots equipment, reports all equipment downtime and malfunctions to the shift supervisor and cooperates with service personnel for repair.
  • Demonstrates good customer service skills by greeting the patient, introducing himself / herself, explaining the procedure and following up on all reasonable customer requests. Practices age-specific sensitivity.
  • Responsible for administering the radiopharmaceutical isotope in accordance with department policy.
  • Interviews the patient for pertinent medical history, assesses the patients learning abilities, reviews the patient's chart or physician's order and obtains consents on patient prior to performing imaging procedures as required.
  • Transfers patients to the Nuclear Medicine table or transportation device utilizing proper body mechanics, appropriate equipment and safe patient handling methods. Implement age-specific safeguards as appropriate.

  • One year experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in a hospital setting is required
