Job description

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our CT Tech, you will operate diagnostic equipment and perform a variety of technical diagnostic imaging procedures related to computed tomography. You will provide critical patient orientation, procedure explanation, and essential pre and post-diagnostic care to ensure the successful completion of tests.

Every day you will perform CT exams on patients according to specific departmental procedure protocols under the Medical Director's direction, ensuring all equipment is operational, safe, and functioning correctly. You will facilitate patient understanding by reviewing physician orders, communicating with radiologists for proper exam protocols, and providing detailed diagnostic test information.

To be successful in this role, you must possess the ability to independently perform complete diagnostic imaging tests, including patient positioning, equipment calibration, and documentation of findings under supervision. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety, adherence to protocols, and effective communication with both patients and clinical staff.

  • Is a role model for the Hospital's Patient Satisfaction effort, i.e. demonstrates AIDET principles when interacting with customers, subordinates and colleagues.

  • Responsible for assuring safe equipment operation before attempting any radiology procedure. Troubleshoots equipment, reports all equipment downtime and malfunctions to the shift supervisor and cooperates with service personnel for repair.

  • Protects patient and self from injury during patient transportation and during the procedure: Always places patient in proper body alignment. Side rails are always high up. Always uses proper body mechanics during work. Observes Body Mechanics video yearly; Implements age-specific safeguards when appropriate.

  • Demonstrates good customer service skills by greeting the patient, introducing himself/herself, explaining the procedure and following up on all reasonable customer requests. Practices age specific sensitivities.

  • Interviews the patient for pertinent medical history, assesses the patients learning abilities, reviews patient chart or physician order and obtains consents on patient prior to performing imaging procedures as required.

  • Transfers patients to the radiology table or transportation device utilizing proper body mechanics, appropriate equipment and safe patient handling methods in accordance with age specific sensitivities.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Graduate or GED

  • One year experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting or one year experience as a CT Technologist

  • Graduate of school of Radiologic Technology

  • Medical Radiographer: CA

  • Basic Life Support - CPR

  • Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT (R)(CT)

Preferred

  • One year experience as a CT Technologist in hospital setting

  • Cardiac CT and CT guided procedure experience
