Job description

Looking for an experienced Auto Body Technician to assist in our paint shop full time. We are increasing production and need candidates with the knowledge and skill to be able to increase our output and keep our painter spraying!
We are currently seeking ​a Bodyman and a prepper/polisher to become an integral part of our team! We are looking for candidates who are seasoned bodyman, a quick and efficient worker, and driven.

Smart Prep Auto is a retail and wholesale detailing company.
Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside our painter and paint shop team
  • Participate in developing a proper repair plan for each vehicle
  • Provide labor and time estimates for automotive repairs
  • Be able to assess the necessary work to be done based off Work Orders created by the team
  • For a Bodyman
    • Thoroughly disassemble, repair, and reassemble each vehicle without causing additional or unnecessary damages.
    • Repair collision-damaged vehicles according to OEM specifications and company standards by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts; ensure all gaps and fits are to industry standards; remove damaged fenders, panels and grills; bolt or weld replacement parts in position and reassemble after parts are painted
    • Operate a variety of hand and power tools (e.g. welder, soldering equipment, cutting torch, blocks, hammers, wrenches, sander, spray guns, etc.)
    • File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces to ready vehicles for paint
    • ICAR certifications appreciated
    • Detail-oriented, clean and efficient, and able to maintain all tools, pads, and products in a way that will ensure efficient and high-quality work.
Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years experience as a body technician
  • Knowledge of bodywork, prep-work, mudding, etc.
  • Strong bodyshop aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work with a team, Good communicator
