Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Auto Body Repair Tech will be responsible with assisting body repair tech with collision repairs to the absolute highest standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to quality assurance inspections and revisions prior to advanced paint application process.
Pay Range $24.00 - $35.00
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Familiar with Chief Frame machine
  • Able to use Chief Lazer Measuring machine
  • Able to weld aluminum and steal body parts
  • Dismantle vehicle within the suggested time constraints in a safe manner
  • Assist verifying vehicle collision damages, body, frame, and mechanical repairs
  • Remove, label, and tag parts to be placed into storage for later repairs
  • Create inventory and list repairs parts
  • Cleans and inspects vehicles for any flaws or imperfections prior to painting
  • Assist with preparing and filling depressions with body-filler and ensures a quality repair
  • Carefully and accurately masks any areas that are not meant to be painted
  • Uses hammers/dollies to fix minor metalwork
  • Files, grinds, and sands repaired surfaces using power tools and hand tools
  • Replaces bolts on panels and aligns properly
  • Partner and provide clear communication with other team members and departments involved in the vehicle reconditioning process
  • Track and handle hazardous waste according to regulations and company policy
  • Follow proper operating rules, procedures, and standardized workflow
  • Wear and use required safety equipment (respirator, eye, and skin protectors)
  • Maintain a clean and productive work environment by keeping tools and supplies organized
  • Work is typically based in a busy office/service center environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Frequent work outside and in inclement weather conditions is required, including heat, cold and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by established Company Safety Standards. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. May be required to cover vacation time at other locations and some extended weekend hours.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 6 - 10 years of hands-on experience
  • Must complete county required Live Scan
  • Valid driver License
  • Willing to obtain ASE body repair / painter certification
  • Must provide own tool and body repair equipment
  • Experienced in repairing, prepping and fixing different parts and materials including steel, fiberglass, carbon fiber, and composites
  • Perform quality assurance to precise paint manufacturer and company standards
  • Inspire a creative mindset, going above and beyond when developing paint and finishes
  • Strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment to multiple deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently
  • Excellent time management with an ability to balance multiple projects and timelines while meeting deadlines
  • Must be able to lift, lower, carry, push or move objects up to 50 lbs. Various tasks may require intermittent standing or prolonged sitting, and the ability to walk, reach, kneel, crouch and handle work related supplies and tools. Additional details related to physical requirements may be outlined in the Company's Performance Work Statement or Contract with the client.
