Job description

THE PATH

Trainee (Weeks 1–4): $25/hr floor. You learn how we work... our diagnostic process, our documentation standards, how we talk with homeowners. The floor protects your paycheck while you ramp.

Service Technician (Month 1+): Commission kicks in. 20% on repairs and installations. 10% on equipment sales, IAQ work, and ductwork. $25 per Comfort Club tune-up call. $15 per new enrollment. The $25/hr floor stays as a guarantee... you earn whichever is higher. A solid tech running a full day clears $300–$400+, depending on call mix.

Senior Technician (12–18 months): Same structure. Volume, complexity, and conversion drive the number. Strong performers clear $90,000–$138,000+/year. Take-home service van, gas card, company iPhone, iPad, and 401(k). This is the tier that makes a good tech stop looking.

Lead Tech / Field Supervisor (24+ months): As we build toward our 3-year growth targets, someone moves into field leadership. That person is already on this team.

Compensation:

$60,000 - $150,000 per year

Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair residential furnaces, air conditioners, and heat pumps — verified, tested, and documented before leaving every job.
  • Complete full-system health assessments on every maintenance and tune-up visit — give homeowners a clear picture, not just a pass/fail.
  • Present repair vs. replace options with four-option quotes, honest guidance, and documented pricing — let the homeowner decide.
  • Enroll homeowners in Comfort Club memberships as a genuine service, not a pitch — explain the value and let the math do the work.
  • Identify and hand off qualified replacement opportunities to the Comfort Advisor with context and a warm transfer.
  • Maintain complete ServiceTitan documentation — before/after photos, system readings, job notes, timesheets — every call, every time.
  • Own your truck — daily inspection, organized equipment, and immediate issue reporting so the next call starts from a position of readiness.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • 2+ years of residential HVAC service experience.
  • Comfortable using iPad and field service software (ServiceTitan or similar).
  • U.S. work authorization.

You do NOT need:

  • EPA 608 before day one — preferred, but we'll sponsor the right candidate.
  • Commercial or new construction experience — this is residential service.
  • Your own tools — the company provides equipment.
  • ServiceTitan experience specifically — we'll train you on our system.

About Company

Bob Boldt HVAC has been creating home comfort in the Eagan area since 1988. We're not a call-and-fix company. We specialize in performance-based system design — whole-system testing, airflow verification, and written performance reports on every install. We give homeowners four options on every replacement quote because we believe in informed decisions, not upsells. Every job is backed by a 100% money-back satisfaction guarantee. We're building toward a fully systemized $4M company where every team member earns a career, not just a paycheck — and we're looking for people who want to be part of building that.
