Job description

Career Opportunity - Dock Worker - Rockland, Maine (May through December - approximately)
East Coast Seafood Group (ECSG), established in 1981, celebrated an incredible anniversary milestone of 44 years in seafood. The company is proud to offer strategic focus on processed seafood and value-added product lines for distribution in North America, Europe, and Asia. We’ve built an unrivaled reputation as a global leader in North American lobster, North American scallops, Finfish and Value Add Seafood.
We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a Dock Worker to assist staff in the collection and distribution of live lobsters at our wharf in Rockland, Maine.
A typical day at the Dock may include:
  • Communicating daily with the location supervisor about daily plans, issues, challenges or concerns
  • Coordinating with others so lobsters are handled efficiently and always with quality in mind
  • Maintaining the dock's daily needs to operate, including handling crates, pallets, ice, bait, fuel, etc.
  • Load trucks and trailers in an organized manner so destination can easily identify different lots (must be able to lift 20+ pounds)
  • Generate documentation for all transactions and maintain organized records (bills of lading, load sheets, crate slips, etc.)

Qualifications:
  • No prior experience required, but some exposure to the lobster industry are a plus
  • A willingness to learn and a strong work ethic are essential
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • High school diploma or equivalent
