Title: Facilities Technician
Location: Milpitas, CA
Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: $30–$35/hr
Shift:
1st Shift: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm
2nd Shift: 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Must Have Skill Set:
  • HVAC and electrical troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with chillers, compressors, cooling towers, and critical utilities
  • Basic controls/BMS knowledge
  • Facilities or utilities maintenance background within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read instruction manuals and perform electrical measurements including DC power
  • 2+ years of related experience
Overview:
Sterling Engineering is seeking a well-rounded Facilities Technician for a growing manufacturing environment in Milpitas, CA. This role is focused on maintaining and troubleshooting critical facility systems, including HVAC equipment, chillers, compressors, cooling towers, CDA systems, and water-cooled infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong facilities maintenance background with exposure to electrical systems and basic controls/BMS systems. Candidates from semiconductor, food production, chemical, pharmaceutical, or other critical utility environments are encouraged to apply.
Job Duties:
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on HVAC and facility utility systems
  • Support chillers, compressors, cooling towers, CDA systems, and related equipment
  • Monitor and maintain water-cooled systems and critical utilities infrastructure
  • Assist with facilities controls and BMS-related troubleshooting
  • Read technical manuals, schematics, and instructions for diagnostics and repair
  • Perform electrical measurements and basic DC power troubleshooting
  • Complete preventative maintenance activities and equipment inspections
  • Support clean room and manufacturing facility operations as needed
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with safety standards and procedures
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of facilities, utilities, or HVAC maintenance experience
  • Experience within manufacturing, semiconductor, food, chemical, pharmaceutical, or similar environments preferred
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, chillers, compressors, and cooling towers
  • Basic understanding of BMS/controls systems
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience preferred
  • Clean room experience is a plus
  • HVAC certification, OSHA certification, facilities controls training, or related technical education preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
