Job description

Job Summary (List Format):
- Develop efficient log scraping strategies to optimize CPU, memory, and storage usage.
- Build and maintain Splunk dashboards to monitor Db2 environments.
- Collaborate with DB2 teams to establish and manage log retention policies for outage coverage.
- Translate business requirements into physical data models, emphasizing performance, availability, and recoverability.
- Advise application teams on ACF2 and RACF database security to ensure proper data access provisioning.
- Define and implement backup and recovery strategies tailored for production environments.
- Support DB2 replication product upgrades, act as communication focal point, handle DBA remediation, and assess new features.
- Provide performance tuning and optimization recommendations for database queries in collaboration with development teams.
- Monitor and resolve issues identified in exception reports to maintain production stability.
- Participate in DBA production on-call rotation, including 24x7 SEV1 support.
- Conduct knowledge sharing sessions with application teams as needed.
- Support various audits and compliance reviews, ensuring all deliverables and deadlines are met.
- Requires deep Mainframe DB2 DBA experience (DB2 on z/OS), with focus on performance tuning.
- Minimum 7-9 years DB2 DBA experience at a large financial institution preferred.
- Demonstrated job stability and reliability.
- Proficient with DB2 utilities (IBM and BMC), and BMC tools (Change Manager, Catalog Manager, Mainview, SQL Performance).
- Strong understanding of DB2 recovery, ACF2/RACF managed security, Endevor, ITSM processes (BMC Remedy), SMF data, and reporting.
- Working knowledge of JCL, COBOL, SQL, IBM/BMC utilities, Splunk, and Python.
