About the Maternal Child Health Nursing Department at Boston Medical Center

Registered Nurses for the Maternal Child Health Units provide care in their selected units: Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby, Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Intensive Care and Inpatient Pediatrics. As a Magnet recognized organization, these nurses provide care to the whole family, ensuring the first few days of care have set the family up for success.

Position Summary

As an RN in the Maternal Child Health Department, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver nursing care in the Maternal Child Health Department, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
  • Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
  • Update and manage patient records
  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information
  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC's nursing organization
  • Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects
Job Requirements
  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Maternal Child Health experience required
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Fluency in another language a plus
