Job description

Blue Tide Environmental is a re-refinery of the used motor oil recycling facilities across the U.S. Blue Tide produces high-quality lubricant base oil, and high-lubricity, low-sulfur marine fuel derived from recycled used motor oil. The Companyโ€™s products are API and IMO 2020 Compliant and offer environmentally friendly blend components with a significantly reduced greenhouse gas footprint compared to virgin fossil fuel-derived products. Blue Tide Environmental is seeking full-time Laboratory Technicians to conduct physical and chemical testing on Re-refinery (Motor Oil) process streams including raw material, process material, VGO, base oil, and laboratory quality control samples. This position is accountable for the certification of finished VGO and Base oil in accordance with ASTM specifications and routine analysis of both hydrocarbon and wastewater samples using established analytical methods.

Job Duties

  • Provide accurate and timely data entry of lab results.
  • Possess LIMS proficiency in sample login, and data entry.
  • Read and understand all analysis procedures and safety standards in English, including ASTM test methods of analysis and other analytical standards and procedures used in the laboratory.
  • Assist in or perform accurate and repeatable analysis as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Participate in proficiency testing programs in accordance with applicable standards and good laboratory practices.
  • Work with and around sensitive and delicate lab instrumentation, like ICP, GC, lubricant base oil tests, and other wet chemistry analyses. understanding the importance of proper operation and treatment.
  • Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
  • Exercise procedural, safety, and quality requirements and strictly follow company policies.
  • Attend all safety and laboratory training sessions and fulfill testing requirements. During scheduled shifts, be able to work by yourself in a safety conscience manner.
  • Possess competency in lab techniques showing consistent and proper use of instrumentation, equipment, and glassware.
  • Work rotating shifts with flexibility in shift schedules.
  • Possessing critical thinking and communication skills is mandatory.
  • Follow-through on commitments made to others.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-organized work area.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Must be a dependable and reliable individual; whose daily presence and dedication are committed to the success of theย company.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education/Experience

High School or GED equivalent required. Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Chemistry, Physical or Biological Sciences Bachelorโ€™s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience working in an industrial laboratory are preferred.
