Physician, Moonlighting Weekend Coverage

Join us in making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve as a Physician (Moonlighting Weekend Coverage). This position will require commitment to work at least one weekend shift per month. Typical hours will be Saturday and Sunday 8am to 8pm. This will include a combination of on call/on duty.
Position Summary/Responsibilities
The Physician provides coverage within the crisis continuum of care for the agency. This includes clients within the Crisis Intervention Team Assessment Center (CITAC); 23-hour Crisis Receiving Center; and the Residential Unit at the Crisis Stabilization Unit. Additionally, the relief physician will accept assigned shifts for on-call coverage and in person coverage for rounds on individuals in the programs, complete admission evaluations, and respond to clinical needs as requested.
Responsibilities include:
  • Provides admission and ongoing treatment orders.
  • Performs psychiatric evaluations and provides medication management to BRBH Access to Care Services clients. Includes obtaining health/mental health history; determining plan of care; ordering and interpreting necessary lab work and/or specialized diagnostic procedures; prescribing medications and calculating drug dosage; monitoring treatment; referring clients to appropriate internal and external care providers; educating and providing guidance to clients; maintains and updates medical records per agency, licensure, and/or Medicaid requirements; participates as a team member with Access to Care nursing and non-medical staff to assure treatment consistency and excellent team communication.
  • Acts as the physician-to-physician liaison with hospitals and other agencies and/or programs as needed regarding client psychiatric care issues.
  • Acts as a clinical resource for BRBH staff and participates in team meetings as requested.
Hiring Range
The anticipated base rate for this position $100/hour per assessment and $42/hour on call. Actual compensation offered within this range will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, qualifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities), geographic location, complexity of role, and other relevant business considerations. We kindly ask that candidates do not discuss compensation until after an offer of employment is extended.
Requirements
  • Education: Completion of an accredited medical college curriculum that fulfills academic standards for licensure as a physician.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Licensed as a Physician in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Active, unrestricted license required.
  • Background Check: Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry report will be required upon selection.
Special Work Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally in one-on-one situations and in group settings. Must also be able to communicate effectively in writing. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will often sit, stand and walk. The employee frequently lifts and or carries up to 10 pounds and pushes or pulls up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (computer and client medical records). Specific hearing required by this job includes normal tones.
