Description & Requirements
As a Support Specialist with the Bloomberg On-Site Support (BOS) team in Chicago, you will help ensure the reliability and performance of Bloomberg technology across both client and office environments.
This role combines end-user IT support with hands-on infrastructure and connectivity support, including work across servers, routers, switches, IDF environments, and regional colocation facilities. You will operate in production settings where uptime, responsiveness, and professionalism are essential.
This is a visible, client-facing position requiring strong technical fundamentals, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize effectively in fast-paced environments.
The Role
Join our Bloomberg On-Site Support (BOS) team based out of our Chicago office at 111 S. Wacker. You will provide on-site technical support and assist with infrastructure installations and implementations, partnering with Sales, vendors, Facilities, and internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
The role requires flexibility to support maintenance windows, deployments, and time-sensitive production matters. While primarily aligned to standard business hours, candidates must be willing and able to adjust their schedule as business needs require.
We'll trust you to:
  • Provide hands-on installation and servicing of servers, routers, switches, appliances, workstations, and IDF equipment, including rack and stack, patching, and physical connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot LAN and WAN connectivity issues using knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, subnetting, and routing principles.
  • Support Windows and Mac environments across hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Assist with implementation and order activity to ensure accurate and timely delivery.
  • Support license activation, software requests, and related technical needs.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within Bloomberg's service management systems.
  • Manage competing priorities with professionalism in high-visibility environments.
You'll need to have:
  • Two to four years of experience in IT support, desktop support, or junior network or infrastructure roles.
  • A solid understanding of networking fundamentals including LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, subnetting, and routing principles.
  • Hands-on exposure to routers, switches, patch panels, IDF environments, or data center facilities.
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows and Mac systems in a professional setting.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working in client-facing environments.
  • Flexibility to adjust working hours as required to meet business needs.
We'd love to see:
  • Exposure to CCNA-level networking concepts or demonstrated interest in networking development.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure deployments, including cabling and hardware servicing.
  • Experience supporting mobile devices, including Android and iOS platforms.
  • Familiarity with structured service management environments.
  • Interest in financial services or enterprise production environments.
