What is blockchain crypto risk management?

Blockchain Crypto Risk Management refers to the process of identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with blockchain technologies and cryptocurrencies. Professionals in this field analyze threats like cyberattacks, fraud, regulatory changes, and market volatility that could impact digital assets or blockchain-based systems. They develop strategies to protect assets, ensure compliance, and maintain the integrity of blockchain operations. Effective risk management helps companies and investors minimize losses and adhere to industry standards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a blockchain crypto risk management professional?

To thrive in Blockchain Crypto Risk Management, you need a solid understanding of blockchain technology, financial regulations, cybersecurity, and risk assessment methodologies, often supported by degrees in finance, computer science, or certifications like Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). Familiarity with risk management tools, blockchain analytics platforms, and compliance systems such as Chainalysis or Elliptic is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help professionals identify vulnerabilities and explain complex risks to stakeholders. These skills are essential to safeguard digital assets, ensure regulatory compliance, and protect organizations from financial and reputational losses in the evolving crypto landscape.

Job description

Who We Are
At OKX, we believe that the future will be reshaped by crypto, and ultimately contribute to every individual's freedom.

OKX is a leading crypto exchange, and the developer of OKX Wallet, giving millions access to crypto trading and decentralized crypto applications (dApps). OKX is also a trusted brand by hundreds of large institutions seeking access to crypto markets. We are safe and reliable, backed by our Proof of Reserves.

Across our multiple offices globally, we are united by our core principles: We Before Me, Do the Right Thing, and Get Things Done. These shared values drive our culture, shape our processes, and foster a friendly, rewarding, and diverse environment for every OK-er.
OKX is part of OKG, a group that brings the value of Blockchain to users around the world, through our leading products OKX, OKX Wallet, OKLink and more.

About The Opportunity
We are seeking a senior trading-technology leader to design and deliver the technology stack connecting customers to a regulated US derivatives market.
The ideal candidate will have built an FCM operation from the ground up or led the technology function at a leading FCM or service provider for FCMs and broker-dealers.
They will bring deep knowledge of the vendor landscape and a strong track record of making strategic technology, operational, and build-versus-buy decisions.
You will report to the OKX Core Trading Product Management leadership with a dotted line to the CEO and COO of the local entity.
The essential profile is someone who can make architecture and vendor decisions - Not someone hired merely to implement a vendor choice already made.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Design the end-to-end US derivatives trading architecture.
  • Lead the selection of the clearing FCM, OMS and market-access providers.
  • Deep familiarity with leading OMS, risk-management, and market-data vendors in the U.S. derivatives ecosystem.
  • Decide between vendor-provided, direct-exchange and hybrid connectivity.
  • Define the long-term build-versus-buy roadmap.
  • Lead internal and vendor integrations across OMS, margin, liquidation, funding, UI, and KYC.
  • Lead exchange connectivity, certification and production readiness.
  • Define pre-trade risk, kill-switch, drop-copy and reconciliation requirements.
  • Establish 24/7 monitoring, incident response and disaster recovery.
  • Own vendor technical diligence, contracts, SLAs and delivery.
  • Recruit and lead the US trading-technology team.
What We Look For In You
  • 10-15+ years in electronic trading or capital-markets technology.
  • Deep knowledge of listed derivatives and US futures market structure.
  • Experience with OMS, FIX, exchange connectivity, market data and pre-trade risk.
  • Prior experience working at an FCM is required.
  • Understanding of the complete execution, clearing and settlement lifecycle.
  • Track record delivering mission-critical trading platforms.
  • Ability to translate business and regulatory requirements into technical architecture.
  • Strong leadership across engineering, product, risk, compliance and operations.
Preferred Background
Candidates may come from:
  • Futures execution technology at a bank or FCM.
  • An exchange or clearinghouse.
  • An OMS or market-access technology provider.
  • A futures-native brokerage or regulated digital-asset platform.

First-Year Objectives
  • Define the target architecture and systems of record.
  • Select the DCM connectivity model, clearing FCM and technology providers.
  • Deliver exchange certification and production readiness.
  • Establish reconciliation, risk controls and 24/7 support.
  • Produce a roadmap for increasing internal ownership of the stack.
Perks & Benefits
  • Competitive total compensation package
  • L&D programs and education subsidy for employees' growth and development
  • Various team building programs and company events
  • Wellness and meal allowances
  • Comprehensive healthcare schemes for employees and dependants
  • More that we love to tell you along the process!
