What is blockchain crypto risk management?

Blockchain Crypto Risk Management refers to the process of identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with blockchain technologies and cryptocurrencies. Professionals in this field analyze threats like cyberattacks, fraud, regulatory changes, and market volatility that could impact digital assets or blockchain-based systems. They develop strategies to protect assets, ensure compliance, and maintain the integrity of blockchain operations. Effective risk management helps companies and investors minimize losses and adhere to industry standards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a blockchain crypto risk management professional?

To thrive in Blockchain Crypto Risk Management, you need a solid understanding of blockchain technology, financial regulations, cybersecurity, and risk assessment methodologies, often supported by degrees in finance, computer science, or certifications like Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). Familiarity with risk management tools, blockchain analytics platforms, and compliance systems such as Chainalysis or Elliptic is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help professionals identify vulnerabilities and explain complex risks to stakeholders. These skills are essential to safeguard digital assets, ensure regulatory compliance, and protect organizations from financial and reputational losses in the evolving crypto landscape.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals in blockchain crypto risk management, and how are they addressed?

Professionals in Blockchain Crypto Risk Management often encounter challenges such as rapidly evolving regulatory requirements, complex technical vulnerabilities, and the need to keep pace with new blockchain protocols and attack vectors. To address these, teams regularly conduct risk assessments, collaborate with legal and IT departments, and participate in ongoing training. Job description

About the Role
You'll join zerohash's growing QA function, working alongside engineers and SDETs. As a QA Engineer, you'll own test planning, functional and exploratory testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) across zerohash's product stack. This is an opportunity to shape testing practices and quality standards as the team scales, with visibility into every product area and a direct line to release quality.
Responsibilities
  • Test coverage: Design, document, and execute functional and exploratory test cases for API- and SDK-based product flows.
  • Automation testing: Pick up automation work on an ad hoc or on-demand basis, addressing automation tech debt and critical-flow gaps, using tooling and frameworks built by SDETs.
  • Cross-functional planning: Partner with product managers, developers, and SDETs to translate acceptance criteria into concrete test scenarios, and proactively call out coverage gaps and edge cases.
  • Release quality: Own regression testing for your assigned area ahead of each release, and support the team's release-readiness process.
  • UAT: Help formalize and run User Acceptance Testing across product and engineering as zerohash standardizes this process company-wide.
  • Defect management: Log, triage, and track defects with clear repro steps, severity, and expected-vs-actual detail; follow issues through to resolution.
  • Automation collaboration: Flag coverage gaps that need deeper automated testing and route them to developers, who own unit and integration test automation.
  • Environments: Test across dev, cert, and prod environments, and participate in release readiness reviews.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of QA or test engineering experience, ideally in fintech, payments, or another regulated, API-driven environment.
  • Strong grasp of QA process across all phases of the SDLC: test planning, test data setup, execution, defect management, and release sign-off.
  • Strong test case design and exploratory testing instincts; comfortable reading API specs and testing REST/JSON APIs directly (e.g., Postman, cURL).
  • Experience with BDD-style test scenario writing (Gherkin/Cucumber or similar).
  • Comfortable writing and maintaining automated tests (e.g., Playwright, Selenium) for occasional ad hoc work and automation tech debt.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language used for test automation (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript or Python).
  • Working knowledge of SQL for data verification and familiarity with Git-based workflows (GitHub).
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence, or equivalent tools, for test planning, tracking, and documentation.
  • Experience with a test management or UAT tool (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr, or similar).
  • Clear, detailed written communication: bug reports and test plans that others can act on without back-and-forth.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, switching between competing priorities and projects.
  • Comfortable collaborating across time zones with a distributed engineering team.
Preferred
  • Experience testing financial transaction flows: ledgers, settlement, reconciliation, or payments.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and how automated tests fit into them.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment (sprint planning, backlog grooming).
About zerohash
zerohash is the leading crypto and stablecoin infrastructure platform and the operating system for digital money, powering the next generation of financial services. Founded in 2017, zerohash enables banks, brokerages, fintechs, and payment companies to offer crypto trading, stablecoin payments, and tokenized assets without having to build or manage complex blockchain infrastructure on their own.
The zerohash platform supports three core pillars: Trade, Transact, and Tokenize. Through a single integration, customers can launch regulated crypto buy, sell, and custody services; enable 24/7 stablecoin-based funding, payouts, and settlement; and issue and manage tokenized assets with built-in compliance, risk controls, and reporting. By abstracting away technical, regulatory, and operational complexity, zerohash allows partners to treat digital assets as just another financial primitive: fast, programmable, and global.
zerohash is trusted by some of the world's most recognized financial and consumer brands, including Interactive Brokers, Morgan Stanley, Stripe, Franklin Templeton, BlackRock, DraftKings, Gusto, Worldpay, Kalshi, One Pay, among others. Today, zero infrastructure supports millions of end users across brokerage, wealth, payments, and marketplace platforms globally.
The company is deeply regulated and compliance-first, operating across the U.S. and internationally with licenses and approvals that allow partners to enter crypto and stablecoins with confidence. zerohash has become a trusted partner for enterprises seeking to modernize financial products while meeting the highest standards for security, risk management, and regulatory oversight.
To date, zerohash has raised over $280 million in funding from a mix of leading venture firms and strategic investors, including Morgan Stanley, Interactive Brokers, SoFi, Point72 Ventures, Bain Capital Crypto, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and more.
zerohash has been featured in top-tier media outlets such as Bloomberg, CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Reuters, Forbes, and CoinDesk, and its leadership team regularly contributes to global conversations on the future of payments, investing, and financial infrastructure.
At zerohash, we're building the infrastructure that makes digital money work securely, compliantly, and at global scale.
The zerohash Culture
All zerohash employees are guided by the following characteristics and core principles:
  • Independence/Ownership - An ability to work autonomously. Join zerohash, pitch ideas, and shape the work you do.
  • Passion - We are innovating quickly and challenging the status quo. We want you to think big, be creative and make a difference every day.
  • Collaborative - A good attitude and respect for others. We're teammates, not co-workers. Everything we do is a shared success and equally a shared failure - we talk in terms of "we" not "me".
  • Initiative - An ability and passion for learning and asking questions. We will champion you, challenge you and push you to achieve your best - and we expect you to do the same.
  • Empathy - An ability to listen, respect, and understand your co-workers, customers, and everyone you interact with no matter how different they are to you.
  • Adaptability - An ability to respond quickly. We are in a fast-paced industry and so we expect you to be creative when solving a new problem and comfortable under pressure.
  • Transparency - We believe that transparency is critical to empowering everyone to make the best decisions, both the company to its people and vice versa.
  • Integrity - Integrity creates trust. As both an organization collectively and as individuals, it is our most valuable asset.
