Park Ranger
Larimer County Department of Natural Resources is seeking a hard-working individual to join our team as a Park Ranger! Natural Resources manages Larimer County's great outdoor places, including open spaces and magnificent water-based recreation areas, and fosters responsible land stewardship through weed management and healthy forest practices.
Our mission is to establish, protect, and manage significant regional parks and open lands providing quality outdoor recreational opportunities and stewardship of natural resource values. We are committed to fostering a sense of community and appreciation for the natural and agricultural heritage of Larimer County for present and future generations.
What you'll be doing:
- Provides customer service and natural resource management services to the citizens of Larimer County.
- Performs as a peace officer and enforces Colorado Revised Statutes, park rules, and regulations.
- Contacts violators and issues warnings or citations.
- Conducts investigations and arrests.
- Assists in the development and implementation of ranger and volunteer programs.
- Supervises Ranger I employees, seasonal, and assigned staff.
- Performs minor maintenance tasks.
What we're looking for:
- Experience in parks administration, outdoor recreation management, or natural resource management.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of the general principles of personnel supervision and training.
- Apply techniques used in law enforcement in patrol, investigation, and crime prevention.
- Learn, understand, and interpret laws and regulations.
- Learn to use equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Show basic knowledge of recreational activities of the park user including boating, fishing, hiking, camping, mountain biking, horseback riding, nature study, etc.
All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
- One (1) year of experience providing park ranger services to the public, comparable to Seasonal positions in Larimer County, including park regulation enforcement required.
- Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Park Management, Wildlife Biology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field is preferred.
- POST Certification Level One Peace Officer required within one (1) year from hire date.
- Possession of valid First Aid Card, CPR Certification, and Emergency Medical Responder Certification required within one (1) year from hire date.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver's License required.

Schedule
This position may work Monday through Sunday, nights, weekends, and holidays.
