Job description

Lead, direct and oversee blasting operations for the Luck Stone South East division.ย  Train, coach and mentor associates that participate in the blasting process.ย  Ensure compliance with all regulations.ย  Conduct research and prepare report of results regarding effectiveness of certain blasting techniques over others in Luck Stone's various geologic conditions encountered at quarry locations.ย  Ensure that effect of blasting upon quarry neighbors is minimized while remaining practical and effective for the operation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

ย 60% of job: ย Train, develop, and mentor all blasters.ย  Includes training, coaching and mentoring of associates and hands-on participation in blasting activities and processes.ย  Provide technical expertise for challenging or unique shots.ย  Ensure compliance with all regulations.

20% of job: Conduct research and prepare report of results regarding effectiveness of certain blasting techniques over others in Luck Stone's various geologic conditions encountered at quarry locations. As requested, work with mining engineering/planning.

10% of job:ย  Serve as Blaster-in-Charge when business needs demand.

10% of job: Ensure that effect of blasting upon quarry neighbors is minimized while remaining practical and effective for the operation.ย  Support Plant Managers with neighbor issues.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Work Experience: 7 years blasting experience as Blaster-in-Charge

Required Licenses & Certifications: DMME Blasters Certification; ability to obtain a blasting license in any state we operate in if it is required.ย  DMME Foreman Certification preferred

Ability to travel to our 3 South Carolina locations and our 1 Atlanta, GA location.ย  Overnight travel required 2x a month but candidate needs to be flexible if needed more frequently.ย  A vehicle is provided with this role.ย 

Technical Competencies:

  • Computer Skills (Excel, Word, Outlook), ability to master blasting specific software such as Strayos, 3GSM, Carlson, etc.
  • Part 107 drone license or ability to aquire
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
