Job description

Position Overview

As our Blaster, you will directly lead or assist in the design, layout, preparation and detonation of blasts at customer locations to meet the established customer requirements while ensuring safety and compliance on the job.

Responsibilities of the Position

  • While carrying out daily responsibilities safety and compliance must be the first priority.
  • Ability to develop the blast plan for the job site to maximize blast performance to meet customer requirements.
  • Conduct or participate in blast crew meetings to coordinate responsibilities and address safety protocols.
  • Work with blast crew to verify performance, providing feedback as needed.
  • Review drill logs to verify drill pattern.
  • Load explosives in blast holes by hand, direct drivers to load holes from bulk trucks.
  • Verify completion of pre-blast inspections to ensure a safe blast area and successful detonation.
  • Detonate blast, if blaster-in-charge.
  • Complete all required paperwork, including field blast reports and magazine inventory reports.
  • Communicate with site managers and customers regularly to develop strong partnerships.
  • Additional duties as needed to provide optimal blasting services and efficient site operations.

Qualifications

  • 4-5 years blasting experience in the explosives industry.
  • Must possess a current Blasting License.
  • Must be able to meet ATF eligibility requirements as Employee Possessor.
  • Ability to lead effectively and communicate professionally.
  • Efficient with Microsoft Outlook, blasting software and equipment.
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and perform physically strenuous work on a daily basis, including lifting 50+ pounds of product and material, pulling hoses, stooping, bending, climbing, shoveling.
  • Ability to obtain CDL with Hazmat/Tanker endorsements to support site operations.
  • Available to work long hours as needed to meet customer objectives.
