Blackjack Dealers often face challenges related to maintaining focus and accuracy in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, especially during busy hours. Managing interactions with a diverse range of players, some of whom may be upset or difficult, requires strong customer service and conflict resolution skills. Dealers are also responsible for strictly adhering to gaming regulations and procedures, which can be demanding. Building experience, staying attentive, and developing strong communication skills help dealers successfully navigate these challenges.

What is a blackjack dealer?

Blackjack dealers are casino employees responsible for managing the game of blackjack at a table. They shuffle and deal cards, enforce the rules of the game, collect losing bets, pay out winnings, and ensure fair play for all participants. Dealers also interact with players, answer questions, and help create an enjoyable gaming atmosphere. Excellent customer service, attention to detail, and quick math skills are essential for this role.

Job description

Location: Birmingham, AL
Employment Type: Full-Time

Who We Are

At Blackjack Horticulture, we believe that well-designed landscapes make life better. Our team is committed to quality craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and exceptional service. We work hard, take pride in what we build, and genuinely enjoy what we do. Our environment is welcoming and relaxed, but we move with urgency—because delivering timely proposals and polished designs is key to serving our clients well.

About the Role

We are seeking a Landscape Design Specialist to help bring outdoor spaces to life through creative, functional, and buildable designs. This role blends horticultural expertise, design skill, and estimating ability. You’ll collaborate closely with our sales, operations, and installation teams to create landscapes that reflect both client goals and Blackjack’s high standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Participate in client meetings and site visits to understand goals, preferences, and project requirements.

  • Create conceptual and detailed landscape plans, including planting designs, hardscapes, grading considerations, and supporting documentation.

  • Prepare accurate project estimates, including materials, labor, and subcontractor pricing.

  • Produce designs and proposals within expected turnaround times to support a smooth sales process.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure designs can be built efficiently and to Blackjack standards.

  • Revise plans and estimates based on client feedback and evolving project needs.

  • Stay current on regional plant material, construction techniques, and industry trends.

  • Maintain organized project files and clear communication throughout each project cycle.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field preferred.

  • Previous experience in landscape design and/or estimating preferred.

  • Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Dynascape.

  • Strong understanding of plant selection, site planning, and landscape construction.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines without compromising quality.

  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach.

  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm for creating meaningful outdoor spaces.

Why Blackjack

  • A supportive, team-oriented environment grounded in quality and integrity.

  • Meaningful work that allows you to see your designs become built spaces.

  • Competitive compensation and benefits.

  • Opportunities for growth and continued learning in a company committed to excellence.
