Familiarity with payroll software such as ADP, Paychex, or QuickBooks, and often certification like the Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), is expected. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are crucial soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, legal compliance, and protection of sensitive employee information.

What does 'biweekly' mean in a job context?

In a job context, 'biweekly' typically refers to something that happens every two weeks. Most commonly, it is used to describe a pay schedule where employees receive their paycheck every other week, resulting in 26 paychecks per year. This schedule is different from 'semimonthly,' which means twice a month. Biweekly pay periods can affect how overtime, benefits, and deductions are calculated, so it's important for employees to understand their company's specific policies.
