What does 'biweekly' mean in a job context?

In a job context, 'biweekly' typically refers to something that happens every two weeks. Most commonly, it is used to describe a pay schedule where employees receive their paycheck every other week, resulting in 26 paychecks per year. This schedule is different from 'semimonthly,' which means twice a month.
