As Pullet (Bird) Handlers Bird Handlers will have to perform all duties of this position with the upmost Respect and Regards for the flock. The proper mix, usage, waste and location of all these vaccinations must always be properly recorded. You will need to work closely with the Pullet Handler Record Keeping Associate & Vaccination Associate to ensure proper documentation & cycle of vaccinations.
This Job Description includes activities assigned specifically to the Bird Handlers position at Hickman's Family Farms. All GMP's and SOP's should be followed in conjunction with all UEP and Salmonella Enteritidis requirements and guidelines. Maintenance will be responsible for ensuring that the following tasks are performed in a timely manner.
All staff must shower in and shower out for bio security
Mandatory 72 hour quarantine in effect until further notice-if exposure to birds, visiting a 'hot spot."
Responsibilities and Duties
Bird Handlers will have to perform all duties of this position with the upmost Respect and Regards for the flock. The proper mix, usage, waste and location of all these vaccinations must always be properly recorded. You will need to work closely with the Pullet Handler Record Keeping Associate & Vaccination Associate to ensure proper documentation & cycle of vaccinations.

Work Environment
Personal Protective Equipment: Gloves, Hard Hat, Goggles, Face Shield, Rubber Boots, Body Harness, and/or Ear Plugs should always be worn when performing any tasks require all personal to do so.
Sanitation of all equipment after use is your responsibility, logged and verified.
Bird Handler is responsible for cleanliness of all barn & work areas along with keeping all lanes clear for safe access in & out of all these areas.
  • Ensure proper feed levels and feed system operation
  • Ensure housing system is in proper working condition
  • Clean egg pans under lubing and Niagra daily
  • Scrape and sweep front, back and all aisles daily
