Job Summary

Bird Electric, a Black & Veatch company, is a U.S. self-perform electrical construction services provider with a national reach in emergency power restoration. With more than 600 employees, Bird Electric delivers grid solutions and operates in adjacent distributed infrastructure markets including renewables, electric vehicle (EV) charging, and connectivity. The company also has long-established relationships with fuel producers and energy providers.ย Building on Black & Veatch's world-class integrated solutions, the company acquired Bird Electric in May 2023. Bird Electric expands Black & Veatch's existing capabilities, staff resources, and equipment to meet critical infrastructure demands for a wider client base.

This position is responsible for invoicing of assigned projects and ensures contract terms are followed regarding correct billing rates and schedules. Responsible for intermediate to moderately complex level billings.

Key Responsibilities

Invoicing:

  • Generates, audits and distributes draft invoices and/or credit memos to Project Management for review based on understanding of contract.
  • Ensures billing rates or billing schedules are correctly attached to projects and match contract terms.
  • Reviews and ensures expenses billed are accurate with required backup and match contract terms.
  • Obtains appropriate approval and distributes accordingly.
  • Serves as client liaison for invoicing submittal and resolution of outstanding items.
  • Researches past due invoices and collaborates with project teams on collection activities.
  • Identifies process improvement opportunities for billings owned.

Financial Analysis:

  • Researches and responds to project invoicing related questions as requested.

Projects:

  • Complexity and volume include at least one of the following: multiple contracts, multiple task orders and/or purchase orders.

Compliance:

  • Coordinates research and analysis activities related to invoicing as required in support of client requests andย the annual audit activities.
  • May interact directly with auditors as necessary.

Supervisory and Resource Management:

  • Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvement.

Primary Internal Clients:

  • Primary internal clients are billing team peers, supervisors and management; project managers; project controls; project accounting.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience. Typically 2+ years' related experience.
