Job description

Guidance Navigation & Control Engineer 3

Everett, Washington 8+ months Up to $88.00/Hour Contract Shift-1

Takes about 3 minutes. No account required.

Position

Overview

This position will support production operations and supplier builds by investigating and resolving build issues, manufacturing rejections, functional test failures, and line safety items. Analyze and resolve in service fleet issues, working directly with airline customers, suppliers, and regulatory partners to close Service Related Problems (SRPs) and flight squawks. Understand and evaluate system and subsystem architectures, requirements, and designs to identify root causes and implement corrective actions that address both production and fleet impacts. Lead or contribute to failure investigations, corrective design changes, installation/process improvements, and verification activities to restore airworthiness and production flow.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Rapidly troubleshoot production issues on the line and at supplier facilities; define corrective actions and design changes to improve build accuracy, producibility, and safety.
  • Investigate in fleet anomalies and incidents; perform root cause analysis, create mitigation plans, and drive resolution with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Review and interpret system architecture, requirements, and design documentation to assess impacts of anomalies and proposed fixes.
  • Lead and support system/component tests including iron bird, lab rigs, and production test setups; author test plans, monitor execution, analyze results, and document conclusions.
  • Produce and maintain technical artifacts required for certification and continued operational safety: system safety analyses, FMEA, fault trees, and traceability to requirements and regulations.
  • Coordinate across manufacturing, avionics, supplier management, flight operations, safety, and regulatory teams to deliver robust, production friendly, and compliant solutions.
  • Mentor production teams and suppliers on design intent, installation practices, and troubleshooting techniques to reduce recurrence.

8+ months โ€” possible extension and possible FTE opportunity.

Requirements

What you'll need

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of technical experience in an aerospace or similar regulated industry environment.
  • 1+ years of experience with CATIA or similar 3D modeling CAD tools
  • Experience with flight control systems and components.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving factory/build issues and implementing corrective design changes to support manufacturing and production ramp-up.
  • Experience with flight control systems and components.
  • Background in part design, system architecture analysis, and design-to-cost/manufacturability practices.
  • Hands on experience with manufacturing support, functional/acceptance test rigs, and iron bird test environments.
  • Experience working directly with airline customers and regulatory agencies to resolve in service issues.
  • Experience with defect/work-item tracking and manufacturing support tools and processes (e.g., ETAC, Azure DevOps, Jira, or PLM systems) for coordinating design changes and production fixes.

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
