What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Biotech Strategy Consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Biotech Strategy Consultant, you need a strong background in life sciences or biotechnology, analytical acumen, and often an advanced degree such as a PhD, MBA, or related field. Familiarity with market analysis tools, data analytics software, and regulatory databases is typically required, along with experience using presentation and project management platforms. Outstanding communication, critical thinking, and client management skills help you build trust and deliver actionable insights in high-stakes environments. These competencies are crucial to drive evidence-based recommendations, support strategic decision-making, and ensure client success in a complex, rapidly evolving industry.

How do biotech strategy consultants typically collaborate with clients and internal teams during a project?

Biotech strategy consultants work closely with client stakeholders—often executives or R&D leaders—to deeply understand their business objectives and challenges. Collaboration involves frequent meetings, workshops, and data-sharing sessions to align on project goals and validate findings. Internally, consultants engage with multidisciplinary teams, including analysts, scientists, and industry experts, to synthesize research, develop strategic recommendations, and ensure deliverables are both actionable and tailored to client needs. This collaborative approach helps ensure that strategies are grounded in real-world data and are feasible for implementation.

Job description

Sales Consultant - Oncology / MRD Launch

Position Summary

As a Sales Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in the commercial launch of Precise MRD, Myriad's next-generation minimal residual disease testing solution. This is a unique opportunity to help shape adoption of an emerging oncology technology that has the potential to transform how clinicians monitor cancer recurrence and guide treatment decisions.

Through a strategic phased launch, you will partner with oncology providers to drive clinical understanding, support integration into patient care pathways, and accelerate adoption of Precise MRD across community and academic oncology settings. In addition to leading MRD market development efforts, you will position Myriad's broader oncology portfolio-including hereditary cancer and tumor profiling solutions-as part of a comprehensive precision medicine strategy.

This role requires a highly consultative approach focused on clinical education, strategic account development, and long-term partnership building. Success will come from your ability to navigate complex healthcare systems, engage multiple stakeholders, and help customers adopt innovative technologies in a rapidly evolving oncology landscape.

This is an exciting opportunity to help build and scale a transformative oncology platform while working alongside teams across Medical Affairs, Marketing, Operations, and Commercial Leadership. We know exceptional talent comes from many paths. If you have experience introducing complex healthcare technologies, educating clinicians, and driving adoption in evolving markets, we encourage you to apply-even if your background doesn't align perfectly with every qualification listed.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Launch & Market Development

  • Lead the introduction and clinical adoption of Precise MRD during a phased national launch.
  • Develop and execute strategic territory plans focused on market expansion, early-adopter engagement, and long-term growth.
  • Identify and develop strategic oncology accounts that can accelerate regional awareness and utilization of Precise MRD.
  • Support launch feedback loops by sharing field insights, customer trends, and competitive intelligence with internal stakeholders.

Clinical Education & Strategic Selling

  • Deliver compelling clinical and scientific education to oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, and multidisciplinary care teams.
  • Apply a consultative selling approach to understand customer needs, overcome barriers to adoption, and position differentiated solutions.
  • Support integration of MRD testing into clinical workflows and patient management strategies.
  • Position Myriad's oncology portfolio as part of a comprehensive precision medicine approach across the continuum of care.

Account Management & Collaboration

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community oncology practices, academic centers, and integrated delivery networks.
  • Navigate complex healthcare environments involving physicians, administrators, pathology teams, and operational stakeholders.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Market Access, Operations, and Commercial Leadership to support successful implementation and growth.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, industry regulations, and promotional guidelines. #LI-PP1
