Job description

Founding UX/UI Designer - Williamsburg, Brooklyn (Hybrid)
Our client is a well-funded, early-stage biotechnology startup building artificial intelligence-driven drug development platforms. Backed by a premier accelerator and founded by a leading university research team, they train foundation models on human cellular and molecular data. Their technology translates complex biological patterns into actionable decision systems for drug response, toxicity, and diagnostics.
They are seeking a UX/UI Designer to take ownership of the end-to-end product design for their platform. In this role, you will collaborate closely with a team of machine learning and biological experts to scope, prototype, and ship features. Your primary focus will be taking complex biological world models and computational biology tools and turning them into intuitive, powerful interfaces for scientists and researchers.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a UX/UI or Product Designer, ideally in a founding or early hire capacity.
  • Direct professional experience designing for clinical or scientific settings (biotech, biology, laboratory, healthtech, etc.).
  • A portfolio demonstrating the ability to simplify complex data workflows into elegant user experiences.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end UX/UI design for core platforms and artificial intelligence agents.
  • Translate highly technical, dense cellular data into clean, functional, and intuitive interfaces.
  • Establish the foundational design system and visual language for the company from the ground up.
  • Work directly with the founding team to scope, prototype, and ship features rapidly.

This contract-to-hire position offers a flexible compensation of $60 to $75 per hour, depending on experience, with a clear path to direct full-time placement. You will enjoy a flexible hybrid or on-site working arrangement based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This is a rare opportunity to shape a product that directly accelerates life-saving drug development while working alongside world-class experts.
