Common Search & ComparisonYesNo

The main difference between a Biotech Associate and a Laboratory Technician lies in their educational requirements and work scope. Biotech Associates typically hold a bachelor's degree and engage in research and development activities within biotech companies or research institutions. Laboratory Technicians often have an associate's degree and focus on routine lab tasks, testing, and sample processing. Both roles are essential in laboratory settings but differ in responsibilities and qualifications.

What are some typical challenges faced by Biotech Associates when working in a laboratory setting?

Biotech Associates often encounter challenges such as troubleshooting complex experiments, maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols, and managing multiple projects simultaneously. Working with sensitive biological materials requires attention to detail and the ability to quickly adapt to unexpected results or equipment malfunctions. Collaboration with scientists and cross-functional teams is frequent, so strong communication skills are essential to ensure experiments are aligned with broader research goals.

Is an Associates in biotechnology worth it?

An Associate's degree in biotechnology can provide foundational knowledge and skills for entry-level roles such as laboratory technician or research assistant. It often offers a quicker, less expensive pathway into the biotech industry compared to a bachelor's degree, but career advancement opportunities may be limited without further education or certifications.

What can I do with an associate's degree in biotechnology?

A biotech associate's degree prepares individuals for entry-level roles such as laboratory technician, research assistant, or quality control analyst. These positions often involve working with lab equipment, following protocols, and supporting research or manufacturing processes in biotech or pharmaceutical companies.

What biotech jobs pay well?

Biotech Associate roles typically offer competitive salaries, especially with advanced degrees or specialized skills in areas like molecular biology, bioinformatics, or regulatory affairs. Higher-paying positions often require experience, certifications, or leadership responsibilities, and salaries can vary based on the company's size and location within the biotech industry.

What are Biotech Associates?

Biotech Associates are professionals who support scientific research, development, and production in biotechnology companies or laboratories. They typically assist in conducting experiments, analyzing data, preparing samples, and maintaining laboratory equipment. Their work helps develop new products or processes in areas like pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and environmental science. Biotech Associates often have a background in biology, chemistry, or related fields and work under the supervision of scientists or senior researchers.

What does a biotech associate do?

A biotech associate supports research and development activities in biotechnology companies or labs by performing experiments, analyzing data, and maintaining laboratory equipment. They often work with biological samples, use laboratory tools, and follow safety protocols to assist in product development or scientific studies.

Job description

Overview
We're looking for an Associate Client Advocate for our office in Alpharetta, GA. The position is full-time. You'll join an awesome team to support our growing customer base.
About the Role
The Associate Client Advocate is a relationship-first role at the heart of Aptean's Customer Advocacy organisation. You will serve as the primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of customers - owning the full renewal and payment lifecycle, from quote to cash, across all products and services.
This is not your typical renewals or collections role. As an Associate Client Advocate, you will work alongside AI agents that handle the day-to-day process work - automated renewal outreach, collections workflows, reminders, and escalations. That frees you to focus on what matters most: spending meaningful time each day talking with customers, building trust, resolving issues, and protecting revenue. Your judgement, empathy, and commercial instinct are what make the difference.
You will also:
  • Own a portfolio of customer accounts end-to-end, serving as their single point of contact throughout the renewal and payment lifecycle
  • Dedicate significant daily time to direct customer conversations - proactive outreach, renewal discussions, collections follow-up, and relationship building
  • Manage and oversee AI agents that automate process-driven renewals and collections activity across your portfolio, actioning escalations and exceptions that require human judgement
  • Prepare renewal contracts and order forms, ensuring accuracy in pricing, uplift, and co-terminations
  • Frame customer value stories and address barriers to renewal through proactive, data-informed communication
  • Oversee invoicing, payment follow-up, and resolution of open accounts
  • Coordinate with Finance, Legal, and Operations to resolve system or billing issues
  • Identify on-premises customers who may benefit from SaaS migration and partner with Account Managers on that motion
  • Collect and act on CSAT/CES feedback post-renewal to continuously improve process ease and quality

About You
You are a confident, proactive communicator who genuinely enjoys being on the phone and building real relationships with customers. You have a business generalist mindset - comfortable operating across renewals, collections, account management, and customer success without being pigeonholed into one lane.
You are commercially aware, organised, and self-directed. You manage your own workload with minimal supervision, prioritise across a portfolio of accounts, and handle difficult conversations - objections, collections, at-risk renewals - with professionalism and composure. You are tech-comfortable and quick to pick up new digital platforms and tools.
You must also have:
  • 1+ years of experience in customer success, renewals, account management, or finance operations, preferably within a SaaS or software company
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage conversations at both business and finance levels
  • High attention to detail and genuine accountability for results and process ownership
  • Comfort and enthusiasm for working alongside AI tools and automation to drive efficiency and scale
  • A collaborative approach - you contribute actively within a team structure and support those around you

To be ahead of the pack, you might have:
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce or a similar CRM platform
  • Experience with contract management and billing systems
  • An understanding of both on-premises maintenance and SaaS subscription models, including the nuances of messaging and negotiation
  • Prior experience working with or alongside AI tools, digital agents, or workflow automation platforms

What's in it for You?
Aptean offers competitive pay and robust benefit plans along with the opportunity to grow your career in a fast-paced, flexible and casual environment, an outstanding opportunity for career development and growth. The Associate Client Advocate role is designed as a genuine launchpad - with clear pathways into senior advocacy, POD leadership, sales, and specialist roles in commercial operations and AI optimisation as those disciplines grow.
