The Acoustics and Ocean Systems teams develop various product and technologies which include, hearing protection, communication, noise reduction, and ultrasound devices and systems for a wide variety of military and commercial applications. The group also specializes in acoustic data acquisition and analysis and works on an array of other acoustic and undersea applications including underwater acoustics, vibrational systems, and simulation and modeling.
Position Summary
Our Ocean Systems Group is seeking an expert in undersea acoustics and signal processing in the undersea warfare domain. This engineer will lead and contribute to a multi-disciplinary team working on both algorithms and product developments.
Responsibilities
  • Self-starter with the ability to recognize and creatively solve complex problems
  • Serve both as an individual contributor and lead a project team
  • Take ownership of project success and maintain customer relationships
  • Identify and manage project schedules and risks
  • Support business development through proposal writing and the pursuit of strategic partnerships
  • Plan and execute tests in an independent & inventive manner
  • Document project progress

Desired Qualifications
Experience with some of the following:
  • Anti-submarine Warfare (ASW) applications of acoustic signal processing
  • Developing signal processing techniques on real-world underwater acoustic arrays
  • Taking an algorithm through the Navy's APB process for vetting
  • Acoustic target tracking and multi-sensor fusion techniques
  • Acoustic blind-source separation (BSS) techniques
  • Phased-array processing and array design and performance analysis
  • Acoustic testing, data acquisition, and data analysis
  • Acoustic undersea warfare tactics, techniques, and procedures

The ideal candidate will have broad interest in these areas and the desire to lead a team to develop and field a product in a chosen area. Excellent presentation and writing skills are a plus to accomplish this goal.
Education/Experience
  • MS degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or closely related field. PhD degree is a plus (but not a requirement)
  • 5+ years of experience with listed qualifications.
