Offering an exceptional opportunity, Carilion Clinic (CC), Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM), and the Department of Surgery, Section of Cardiothoracic Surgery, in Roanoke, Virginia are searching for a cardiothoracic surgeon to join our busy and well-established group of 6 surgeons and more than 12 advanced practice providers in a clinic-based academic program with remarkable prospects in teaching, research, and clinical surgery.
In July 2025, the Crystal Spring Tower, home of the new Carilion Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) will open. The new signature 10 story building includes 7 dedicated cardiovascular operating rooms (3 Cardiothoracic, 2 Hybrid, and 2 General Vascular), 76 inpatient beds, 9 EP and Cath Labs, MRI, CT, and additional testing. We are committed to pioneering a new era in cardiovascular health by building knowledge through research and education.
Clinical: You will be joining a dynamic group practice who provide comprehensive, multi-disciplinary care for patients supported by state-of-the-art technology, advanced diagnostic tools and treatment options. Ranked by U.S. News as top 3 hospital in Virginia, the Carilion CVI is rated as high performing in Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Lung Cancer Surgery, Heart Bypass Surgery, TAVR, Heart Attack and Stroke.
• The Cardiothoracic Surgery group has provided open heart surgery to the region for over 40 years and works closely with referring physicians to ensure exceptional and personalized care. Procedures include CABG, valve surgery, VAD, and comprehensive thoracic surgery (VATS, robotic, and open). Our Cardiothoracic Surgeons partner with Carilion's Aortic and Endovascular Center and Structural Heart teams to offer advanced solutions for our patients. Our teams hold the AMSECT Pillar award for perfusion program and the ELSO Gold Center of Excellence award for ECMO.
