Job Description

The Department of Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University: This interdisciplinary department contains over 25 faculty with strong international reputations and a track record of extramural support. Faculty research interests are focused in cellular, molecular and integrative biology, reproductive biology including gonadal function, and neurobiology with relevant emphasis in areas related to neuronal differentiation, degeneration and regeneration, ion channels and membrane physiology, synaptic mechanisms, neuronal circuitry, sensory biology, artificial neural networks, and neuroendocrinology.

Research Associate I, II, orIIIpositions available in biomedical sciences laboratories studying the role of selected molecules on biological processes in vivo or in vitro.

The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. at time of application; the Biomedical Sciences department will not provide visa sponsorship for these positions.

Essential Job Duties

Essential job duties vary depending on the hiring laboratory and research program, but may include:

  • Conducting laboratory, field, or computational research activities

  • Maintaining laboratory equipment, materials, and documentation

  • Contributing to manuscripts, reports, and presentations

Specific duties will be defined at the time of hire by the supervising faculty member.

Supervision

This position reports to a faculty member within the Department of Biomedical Sciences. Day-to-day supervision and expectations are defined by the hiring laboratory.

Minimal Qualifications

A degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience or related field.

Level I is for individuals with a Bachelor's degree and less than 3 years of relevant professional experience.

Level II is for individuals with a Bachelor's degree and more than 3 years of relevant professional experience or a recent Master's degree.

Level III is for individuals with a Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years of experience or a Master's degree with 2 years of experience. Individuals with a PhD who have no experience may also be appointed to this position if appropriate.

The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. at time of application; the Biomedical Sciences department will not provide visa sponsorship for these positions.

Preferred Qualifications

A minimum of one year work experience is preferred.
