Job Title: Safety Engineer

Location: Anderson, SC (First Quality Tissue)

Mentor: Safety Manager

Job Purpose:

The Safety Engineer will be involved in safety related projects related to databases, hazard analysis, auditing, developing instructions guides, assisting with training, etc. This position will be broad based in scope, as well as challenging about working with diverse groups with staff at many different levels. Upon successful completion of the program, the candidate will have a variety of paths to further their career and valuable experience in a real-world setting.

Job Responsibilities:

This position could be responsible for a broad range of activities to include, but not limited to:

  • Assist with confined space site inventory and associated risk assessments
  • Assist Operations and Safety in completion of Job Hazard Analysis and Department Standard work instructions.
  • Assist with workplace ergonomic risk reduction

Skill Development

  • Team Collaboration, Problem Solving, Data Analysis, Agility

Experience / Skills:

  • The ideal candidate will be pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering or Safety Engineering, with a minimum GPA of 3.2.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, self-starter, be effective at listening, highly analytical, detail oriented with the ability to compose instructions (regardless of complexity) that are capable of being understood and followed by all levels of the workforce.
  • Will be analytical in nature.
  • Fluent in MS office (emphasis in Access and PowerPoint).
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • A strong work ethic and an ability and willingness to work "hands on" are also important.
