Description
The Field Service Engineer I installs, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, and upgrades advanced medical equipment used in hospitals, laboratories, and healthcare facilities throughout the assigned territory.
This position is ideal for mechanically and electrically inclined technicians who enjoy solving technical problems, working independently, traveling, and interacting directly with customers. Extensive factory training is provided, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates transitioning from military technical roles, industrial maintenance, electronics, biomedical equipment, manufacturing, or mechanical service careers into the growing medical device industry.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain advanced medical equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections
  • Complete equipment calibrations, testing, and performance verification
  • Install software updates, firmware revisions, and equipment upgrades
  • Perform warranty repairs, recalls, and field modification instructions (FMIs)
  • Document repairs, parts usage, and service activities using ServiceMax
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory to complete customer service calls
  • Build strong customer relationships with hospital and laboratory personnel
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and manufacturer service procedures
  • Coordinate daily activities with dispatch and technical support teams
  • Maintain company quality, safety, and documentation standards

Must-Have Skills & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree, trade school, or military technical training preferred
  • One of the following:
    • 2-4 years of field service, industrial maintenance, electronics, biomedical, mechanical repair, military technical, or related experience
    • Associate degree or technical certification with at least one year of hands-on technical experience (internships and apprenticeships considered)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to read technical manuals and service documentation
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively
