Job Description
The Department of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences at the UMKC School of Dentistry is excited to announce an opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow position. We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join the Biomaterials and Bioengineering Laboratory, under the supervision of Dr. Yong Wang in conducting innovative research on the development of next-generation dental biomaterials for caries prevention and durable restorative therapies. We welcome candidates who are enthusiastic about scientific discovery and eager to collaborate with a diverse team of researchers and clinicians.
Responsibilities
  • Utilize multiscale imaging techniques to investigate the structure-property relationships at the biomaterial-dental tissue interface.
  • Design and conduct experimental and molecular studies to assess the efficacy of emerging biomaterials in oral environments and uncover the mechanisms governing their biological and functional performance.
  • Mentor junior researchers in the laboratory.
  • Assisting with secondary projects relevant to the research goals of the lab.
  • Present research findings in both written and oral formats.
  • Assist PI in the preparation of proposals, reports, and presentations.

This is a 12-month, full-time, benefit eligible, unranked/non-tenure track academic position.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Biomaterials, Biomedical Engineering, Dentistry, a related field.
  • Experience in dental materials research is preferred.
  • Experience with microbiology and oral biofilm research is desirable.
  • Experience in cell culture and tissue engineering is a plus.
  • Strong communication and scientific writing skills.

Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
