Job Summary


This role will serve as a key problem solver supporting crossfunctional product development initiatives from concept through manufacturing, ensuring timely issue resolution, strong collabora-tion, and successful product launches.


Key Accountabilities

  • Employ mechanical and electrical technical skills to support R&D product development activities to achieve project goals
  • Leverage understanding of engineering principles, engineering methods, data and judgment to influence the course of product development activities.
  • Apply technical expertise in mechanisms, fluidics and electronics to support efforts in test method development, implementation and validation for medical device/systems.
  • Support efforts in creating and developing fixtures and building test stations for characteriza-tion, experimenting and testing novel medical device/systems.
  • Responsible for assessing design feasibility and testing product functionality and/or confirm product capabilities.
  • Design experiments using DOE methodology and analyze the test results using statistical tools. Interpret the results correctly and provide feedback effectively for design improvements.
  • Participate in the design of new products and design improvements to existing products.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Works in cross-functional relationships with team members of Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, Operations, and other R&D functions.


Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 0–1 year of relevant engineering experience, including internships or coops

Management has the discretion of substituting relevant work experience for a degree and/or making exceptions to the years of experience requirement.

Skills & Capabilities:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors
  • Ability to define problems, analyze data, and draw valid conclusions, and to interpret diverse technical instructions presented in mathematical or diagram form
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situa-tions.
  • Ability to format and analyze variable data in excel and minitab
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Experience with instrument automation or scientific instrumentation. Experience in medical device industry (preferred).
  • Experience with configuring and troubleshooting and testing using a data acquisition system.
  • Functional/working knowledge of AC/DC circuits. Technical report writing experience.

Travel requirements:
5% annual travel may be required; domestic and international.
