DTE Biomass Energy (DTEBE) develops, owns and operates renewable energy projects throughout the United States. Our company converts biogas generated at landfills and at dairy farms into clean, renewable electricity or renewable natural gas (RNG). As a leader in this industry, with more than 20 operating facilities stretching from North Carolina to California, we have the proven capabilities to help provide communities with safe, environmentally sound renewable energy. Headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, DTE Biomass Energy is a wholly owned subsidiary of DTE Energy. DTEBE has an immediate opening at our facility below.
Sea Breeze Energy Producers, LLC is a landfill gas to energy facility in Freeport, Texas. The facility has an 4.0 MMCFD LFG processing plant consisting of 4 Vilter screw compressors, The plant has gas treatment equipment to remove H2S, Oxygen, water and CO2. The Facility was constructed by DTE Biomass in 2018. Gas from the facility is sold to OCI Fuels Limited. The pay range for this position is $28.03 - $34.19.
Job Summary
Location: Various, United States
This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance and repair of a landfill gas collection and processing facility. Work is performed under general supervision of a Facility Manager, with work results reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities
  • Conducts day-to-day operation, maintenance, and repair of a landfill gas (LFG) collection system and LFG delivery pipeline
  • Performs equipment inspections, collects samples of LFG wells and gas collection system, and makes adjustments to optimize well flow as necessary
  • Collects oil, water, wastewater, gas, and air samples for analysis
  • Performs minor electrical and mechanical repairs
  • Adheres to company and project specific health and safety requirements; participates in monthly safety audits and inspections
  • Maintains administrative records including logbook, filing system for drawings, instruction books and manuals, spare parts inventory, and records
  • Supports, assists, and directs the work of contractors on-site
  • Routinely operates a motor vehicle and/or off-road vehicle on undeveloped terrain
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Possesses a valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Ability to analyze problems, develop solutions and recommend sound alternatives
  • Ability to work overtime including call outs outside of normal business hours, weekends, and holidays
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Office applications

Other Qualifications
Preferred:
  • Previous military experience
  • A technical degree or certificate in an electrical or mechanical field is preferable, or equivalent work experience with electrical and mechanical systems
  • Familiar with gas compression and/or gas transportation
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and instrument control systems including equipment such as motors, blowers, controls, and pumps

  • Talk and hear in noisy environments; use hands and fingers; handle and feel; and able to reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally operate over the road vehicles, mobile equipment and/or UTV
  • Wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to, personal fall arrest equipment, flame resistant clothing, arc rated apparel, etc.
  • Possess the following vision requirements: close, color, distance, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

Working conditions
  • Frequently be exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme heat and cold
  • Occasionally be exposed to protected and unprotected heights, which requires the use of a personal fall arrest system (harness/lifeline)
  • Be in a work environment where the noise level may occasionally be moderate to high, requiring use of hearing protection
