How much do biology research jobs pay per hour?
What is biology research?
What are the qualifications to get a biology research job?
The primary qualifications for a biology research job depend on the position. Most research associate jobs are available with a bachelor's degree or a master's degree, preferably with laboratory experience. Some laboratory assistant jobs are available with as little as a high school diploma, though most labs prefer research associates who have at least some college training. Senior research roles almost always require a doctorate in the life sciences. Fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of a biology research job requires communication skills and expertise with AI-machine learning techniques and algorithms. Many biology research jobs have additional specialized requirements as described in their job descriptions, but most companies are willing to provide training to researchers who are otherwise qualified.

What is the difference between Biology Research vs Laboratory Technician?
| Aspect | Biology Research | Laboratory Technician |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Bachelor's or Master's in Biology or related field; research experience | Associate's or Bachelor's in Biology, Chemistry, or related field; technical training |
| Work Environment | Research labs, universities, biotech companies | Diagnostic labs, research facilities, hospitals |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Academic, government, private research | Healthcare, diagnostics, industrial labs |
Biology Research involves designing and conducting experiments to advance scientific knowledge, often requiring higher education and research experience. Laboratory Technicians support these efforts by performing routine tests and maintaining lab equipment. While both roles work in lab settings and require related credentials, Biology Research focuses on experimental design and analysis, whereas Laboratory Technicians handle technical tasks and sample processing.
