Syndax Pharmaceuticals is looking for a Director/Senior Director, Bioanalysis
At Syndax, we are determined to realize a future in which people with cancer live longer and better than ever before. Syndax Pharmaceuticals is a commercial stage biopharmaceutical company developing an innovative pipeline of cancer therapies.
The Role:
Syndax is seeking a strategic and experienced bioanalytical leader to oversee bioanalytical activities across our development portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Clinical Pharmacology, this individual will lead and execute bioanalytical strategies for both small molecules and biologics, supporting nonclinical and clinical development programs. For Senior Director candidates, the role also includes organizational leadership and people management responsibilities. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the development of innovative therapies while shaping the capabilities, strategy, and future growth of the Bioanalysis function at Syndax.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Define and execute end-to-end bioanalytical strategies for small molecules and biologics supporting nonclinical and clinical development programs across the portfolio.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert in bioanalysis, including LC-MS/MS, ligand-binding assays, immunogenicity, biomarker assays, and novel analytical technologies.
  • Oversee assay development, validation, and sample analysis activities at CROs, ensuring scientific rigor, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery of high-quality results.
  • Drive CRO selection, oversight, and performance management while providing scientific leadership to resolve complex technical and operational challenges.
  • Review and approve bioanalytical protocols, validation reports, sample analysis reports, and regulatory submission documents.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Clinical Pharmacology, DMPK, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Translational Medicine, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality Assurance to support program milestones.
  • Represent Bioanalysis on project teams, regulatory interactions, due diligence activities, and strategic development initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain bioanalytical best practices, driving continuous improvement in assay development, sample management, vendor oversight, and operational processes.
  • Stay current with advances in bioanalytical science, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices, incorporating innovative approaches when appropriate.

Additional Responsibilities (Senior Director)
  • Provide organizational leadership and strategic direction for the Bioanalysis function across the portfolio.
  • Build, lead and mentor bioanalytical scientists while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and scientific excellence.
  • Drive long-term resource planning, budget management, and external partnership strategies.

Desired Experience/Education and Personal Attributes:
Education
  • PhD or MS in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.

Director Qualifications
  • PhD or MS in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
  • PhD with 10+ years, or MS with 15+ years, of relevant pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience.
  • Deep expertise in bioanalysis, including mass spectrometry, ligand-binding assays, and biologics, with a strong understanding of GLP regulations, regulatory guidance, and pharmacokinetic principles.
  • Demonstrated experience authoring and reviewing regulatory submissions, health authority responses, SOPs, validation documentation, and due diligence assessments.
  • Proven track record of providing strategic scientific leadership and influencing cross-functional teams to achieve development objectives.
  • Sound scientific judgment with a proven ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical and operational challenges.
  • Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with experience working effectively across internal functions and external partners.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Highly organized and results-oriented, with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Additional Qualifications (Senior Director)
  • PhD with 15+ years, or MS with 20+ years, of relevant pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience for Senior Director level.
  • Proven leadership experience, including mentoring bioanalytical scientists, talent development and performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop organizational capabilities, empower teams, and build a culture of accountability and excellence.

Location: Syndax's corporate office is in New York, NY.
Syndax offers a total compensation and rewards package that is among the most competitive in the industry. Base pay is just one element of our package and is determined within a range based on several factors including market data, experience, qualifications, demonstrated skills, relevant education or training, travel requirements and internal equity. Our overall package also includes an equity offering, annual target bonuses, and an outstanding benefits program. The anticipated annualized salary range for this role is $250,000 - $300,000.
